Separate presentation from specialist protection

A finished device, a replacement cable and an exposed electronic component do not have the same packaging requirements. Define what the product is and how it will be handled before choosing the paper presentation. An ordinary paper box should not be assumed to provide electrostatic discharge protection.

For a consumer device, plan a stable position for the main item and separate spaces for cables, adaptors and documents. Avoid pressure on buttons, screens and protruding parts. If batteries are present, have the responsible shipping team identify the applicable transport requirements before deciding on the complete shipment configuration.

Packaging formats to discuss

Retail accessory cartons

A starting point for defined cable or accessory packs. Review retention, barcode space and whether the customer can identify the correct variant.

Device presentation boxes

Consider a structured reveal with separate accessory positions. Check product removal without pressing a screen or activating a control.

Paper outer packaging

Coordinate the paper box with any separately specified shielding, cushioning or other specialist protective components.

Describe the device and its protection requirements

Provide product and accessory dimensions, packed weight, sensitive contact areas, ESD requirements and battery details where applicable. Include the approved document set and the planned retail, fulfilment or transport channel.

  • Check that connectors, switches and buttons are not loaded by the insert.
  • Try packing the full cable and document set rather than an incomplete display sample.
  • Have the responsible specialists approve any ESD or regulated transport components.

Questions about electronics & accessories packaging

Are paper boxes automatically anti-static?

No. ESD protection depends on the specified packaging properties and product requirements, not simply the use of paper or a particular colour.

Can the presentation box be used to ship batteries?

Do not infer transport suitability. The battery type, configuration, destination and mode of transport need a separate assessment by the responsible shipping team.

How can cables be kept separate from a device?

Review individual compartments or retention features using the actual packed cable. Check that it cannot press on the device during normal handling.

Can the insert accommodate several models?

Only within a reviewed range. Confirm each model’s dimensions, protrusions, weight and sensitive areas before using a common insert.
